tools

If you are at work and find yourself in desperate need of tweezers--try binder clips. New ones are especially effective but require a certain amount of patience and skill.

Clover

Ever wonder why the clover is associated with St. Patrick's Day? It is the symbol he used to explain the Trinity. This little piece of info instilled in me a whole new appreciation for this green hued holiday. I am no longer ashamed to slap cheesy shamrocks on every surface I can stick things to. Thank you God for redeeming--at least for me--this ancient celebration from the disdain of commercialism. I clover myself anew!!

C is for Cookie

I am starting an experiment. From now on, I am going to try to expand my vocabulary by curbing my use of the word 'cool'. It is vague and ambiguous and not cool. See what I mean. What does it mean to say something is not cool? It's not right? It's not appropriate? It's not acceptable? Or maybe I mean something is lame.

Anyhow, I am now striving for more concise word choice. Feel free to check me if you hear me say the c-word.

And as our blue furry monster friend used to say, "C is for Cookie," not for cool.

levee

God my Father and Lord Jesus Christ,

Fill up those channels of desire that gush my energies into a flood of dissipation. Levee my heart unto You.

steps of faith

I applied for a part-time job this morning. Before I put the envelope with my application letter into my boss's box I sat in my swivel chair for a second and asked once more, "Is this the right time God?"

"Yes," Jesus answered.

"And can I trust you?," I asked.

"Yes, you can trust me," he replied.

"Okay I trust you."

I don't understand how God is able to get us to do things that are so contrary to logic. I just applied to take a part-time job so that I can work at a coffee shop that hasn't even opened. The timing of his steps are so out of order when compared with my idea of the logical progression of things.

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways." Isa 55:8

It humbles and baffles me.

hmmm...

I am feeling incredibly unsettled today, in my mind. I can't seem to settle down and focus. I feel as if I am cooking too many dishes at one time and that I probably shouldn't be cooking some of them at all.

Wheatdream

Last weekend I had a dream where some friends presented me with flowers, but instead for flowers it was wheat. Bright lucious green wheat. My friend said sowing in Texas is hard. "What did it mean?" I asked God.

"Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written:

"He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever."

Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else. And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!"
